Dear Friend of Wildlife,

As the New Mexico Representative for Project Coyote, I’m excited to announce we are joining Trap Free New Mexico - a coalition of citizens, conservation organizations and animal welfare groups who oppose the cruel, damaging, and dangerous practice of trapping in New Mexico.

Leghold traps, snares, and Conibear-type body-crushing traps put citizens, pets, and non-target species at risk, including the endangered Mexican gray wolf. We seek to ban indiscriminate body-gripping traps on public lands in New Mexico for the sake of public safety and New Mexico's native wildlife. We need your help!

You can start by signing the Trap Free New Mexico petition to ban poisons and traps on public lands!

Coyote Trapped
It's estimated the coyote in this photo had been in the leghold trap for 2-4 days. In his desperation to escape, he chewed 4-5 cm into his leg. He was euthanized due to the severity of his injuries.

Trap Free New Mexico is coming to a New Mexico town near you starting the first week in May. Please attend free training sessions to learn how you can help change laws and change lives!

Trap Free New Mexico and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals are teaming up to bring these free events to communities around New Mexico. We will share tips for becoming a  citizen advocate for animals and build momentum to change the laws that improve animals' lives.

These meetings will be exciting, informative and uplifting. Come learn about:
  • The basics of the legislative process
  • Key animal issues we expect to see before the New Mexico Legislature and how YOU make a difference in how legislators vote
Connect you with other caring people and help build unstoppable momentum to pass stronger laws for animals!

Advocate for Animals Meetings

Please, bring a friend or neighbor and RSVP to me at jpaulsen@projectcoyote.org by sending your name, address, phone number and the event you'll be attending. Please join us to work together for New Mexico's wildlife!
