The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) is planning to release a bonded wolf family with their young pups on the Ladder Ranch where they can be safe and free.

We have a time-sensitive opportunity to speak out on behalf of this Mexican gray wolf family and we need your help NOW!

First, we want to thank USFWS for doing the right thing for this wolf family and ensuring they have a chance to raise their pups in the wild where they belong! Second, we need to show broad public support for this translocation because our opponents are organizing against the plan.

Here’s how you can help:

Submit your comments to USFWS by Monday, May 24!

  1. Email USFWS Mexican Wolf Recovery Coordinator McGee at mexicanwolfcomments@fws.gov TODAY! The deadline for public comments is May 24, 2021. Tell the USFWS:
  • You support the Ladder Ranch Reserve 2021 Wolf Translocation Plan for the Negrito Pack (M1693, F1728, and their young pups).
  • Thank them for helping this wolf family return to the wild where they belong!
  • You support the release of bonded family groups to aid in the genetic rescue of endangered Mexican gray wolves.
  • This wolf pack will make a positive genetic contribution to the wild population.
  • The Ladder Ranch offers excellent habitat for wolves and will ensure that this young wolf family can thrive in the wild away from human activities and livestock grazing.
  • Be respectful, and be sure to personalize your comments to have the greatest impact on helping this wolf family.

Anyone can submit a comment to USFWS, regardless of geographic location! Email yours today!

New Mexicans: Submit your comments to the NM Game Commission by TOMORROW, May 21!

  1. If you live in New Mexico, sign up to speak at the virtual New Mexico State Game Commission meeting on Friday, May 21, 2021.
  • While wolves are not on the agenda for this meeting, we believe that those who oppose the translocation plan will be speaking out against it during the general public comment portion of the agenda.
  • We want to make sure the New Mexico State Game Commission and New Mexico Department of Game and Fish hear from New Mexico residents that you support the release of this wolf pack!
  • Anyone can virtually attend the meeting, but public comments may be most impactful coming from New Mexico residents.
  • You can sign up to comment and watch online or listen by phone here. You must sign up ahead of time if you wish to speak during the meeting. Comments can also be emailed with the subject “SGC Public Comments” to ispa@state.nm.us.
  • You can use the notes above to provide a respectful, personalized comment supporting the translocation proposal and thanking the New Mexico State Game Commission and New Mexico Department of Game and Fish for doing the right thing for the Mexican Wolf Recovery Program by partnering with USFWS to release this wolf pack on the Ladder Ranch Reserve.
  • Comments are typically limited to no more than 2 minutes, so be sure to time yourself to keep things brief, focused, and positive!

Thank you for acting TODAY to protect Mexican gray wolves and their ecosystems!
