Wisconsin’s Wolves Need Our Help!

In August, Project Coyote and our co-plaintiffs sued the Wisconsin Natural Resources Board to stop their illegal wolf hunt slated to start November 6. Yesterday, we filed two motions to seek relief from the courts that will immediately halt the November hunt and secondarily, prevent an outsider hunting group from intervening in our case.

Read our statement on the filing here.

To support our efforts in protecting wolves in Wisconsin and across their historic range — a new campaign we’re calling Protecting America’s Wolves (PAW) — we partnered with our friends at Comfort Theory to launch a series of videos promoting the benefits wolves provide to healthy ecosystems.

So while our opponents thrive on hate, we fight hate with love and lawsuits (as we explain in our recent piece in Earth Island Journal). They hire ‘70s guitarist Ted Nugent to advocate for the killing of wolves, putting forward the view that because “[p]redators don’t buy groceries, food, lodging, gas, supplies, ice, land, buildings, dogs, bait, sporting goods, guides, outfitters, permits, fees, licenses or hire butchers or taxidermists,” states are justified in wiping wolves out.

We counter that false narrative with the science demonstrating how wolves are worth more to communities alive than purchases that prop up hunting.

thereby saving lives and money:

Thank you for all your support to protect Wisconsin’s wolves and wild ecosystems!
