Peter Jude Bardo
PROJECT COYOTE INTERN
Peter Jude Bardo is a student at the University of Florida and an intern at Project Coyote. Born and raised in Arlington, Virginia, Peter developed a passion for the natural world as he spent much of his time in the parks of Northern Virginia and Washington D.C. Peter is pursuing a B.S. in wildlife ecology and conservation with a focus in ecology. He is especially interested in human/wildlife interactions and working to help people and animals coexist. As a freshman, Peter assisted a Master’s student with a research project on how Florida residents viewed coyotes by analyzing news articles and blog posts. In fall 2021, he interned for Dr. Matthew Hallet at the University of Florida, conducting fieldwork and setting up trail cameras throughout parks in North Florida to record the activities of local wildlife. This past spring, Peter assisted a PhD candidate in his research regarding the value fox squirrels place on obtaining food versus avoiding predators, gaining experience in data entry and organization.
As a Project Coyote intern, Peter is helping to expand resources for the Coyote Friendly Communities program and identifying communities where these resources are most needed. This Summer, along with his work for Project Coyote, Peter will also serve as an environmental education intern at Potomac Overlook Regional Park in Arlington, VA. In his free time, Peter enjoys going on hikes with his dogs and watching his beloved Washington Nationals play baseball.
