SARAH KILLINGSWORTH
KEEPING IT WILD YOUTH EDUCATION & OUTREACH PROGRAM COORDINATOR
Sarah is a family law attorney and mediator with a passion for education and wildlife. Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, she has lived in the Bay Area for over 20 years. Sarah graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in Anthropology, and received her J.D. from Stanford Law School with distinction.
A life-long volunteer and active community member, she has volunteered in the WildCare (Bay Area) bird room, was a member of the Steering Committee of Mothers of Marin Against the Spray, and served on the board of the Family and Children’s Law Center for over a decade. For three years, Sarah co-chaired a mentoring program for new family law attorneys; for many years she co-taught an annual family law course for mediators at the Northern California Mediation Center.
Currently, Sarah chairs the Charitable Contributions Committee of the Northern California chapter of American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, is a member of the Youth Sailing Committee of the Inverness Yacht Club, is on the board of the Environmental Action Committee of West Marin, and is an elected Trustee of the Kentfield School District. Sarah co-developed the Bacich Family Maker Night, an annual STEAM event for elementary school students and their families with over 700 attendees each year.
As a California Naturalist, parent and frequent classroom volunteer, Sarah is passionate about sharing the magic of our wilderness areas with children—both by bringing the wild into classrooms, and also by encouraging our youth to explore the outdoors and to learn about their environment. She loves educating students of all ages about local wildlife, including teaching school children about owls and wildlife’s role in seed dispersal and coordinating a garden program for a second grade class. Sarah is also a member of the North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA) Ethics Committee, and adheres to and encourages ethical conduct toward and responsible photography of wildlife. NANPA featured Sarah and Project Coyote Ambassador Daniel Dietrich in this blog post about Choosing an Ethical Photography Workshop.
A talented wildlife photographer, Sarah uses the power of photography to raise awareness about environmental issues. View her work at www.sarahkillingsworth.com.
