Help Ban Wildlife Killing Contests on Federal Public Lands!

Voice Your Support for H.R. 7398 ~ the Prohibit Wildlife Killing Contests Act of 2022

Every year, our country’s bobcats, coyotes, foxes and other cherished wildlife are targeted in cruel and senseless wildlife killing contests, in which participants compete to kill the most, the largest or even the smallest animals solely for cash and prizes. Hundreds of animals may fall victim over one or two days and are typically discarded like trash after the prizes are awarded.

Thanks to U.S. Representative Steve Cohen (D – Tenn.) and 15 of his colleagues, we have an unprecedented opportunity to ban wildlife killing contests on federal public lands with H.R. 7398, the Prohibit Wildlife Killing Contests Act of 2022.

Federal legislation is a long process and an uphill battle. Your sustained support is essential to success! Ending contests on federally owned lands across the U.S. would stop one of the most horrific bloodsports the country has ever known on more than 500 million acres of wild public lands (almost a quarter of total U.S. land).

Urge your Representative to support and co-sponsor H.R. 7398!

The bill has been referred to the Committee on Natural Resources and the Committee on Agriculture but no meetings have been scheduled yet. We’ll update you when the bill has its first hearing. Right now it is critical to increase support by encouraging additional members of Congress to support and co-sponsor the bill.

Take action to support H.R. 7398! Here’s what you can do:

  1. Contact your U.S. Representative to ask them to support and co-sponsor H.R. 7398.
  2. Sign the petition to end wildlife killing contests on federal public lands.
  3. Share this alert with your family and friends!

Thank you for helping protect America’s wildlife!
