Join us on Saturday, July 21st, at the Placitas Community Library at 2:00 pm for a special coyote presentation by Project Coyote New Mexico Representative Judy Paulsen. Project Coyote is a national non-profit organization whose mission is to promote coexistence with wildlife through education, science, and advocacy. Our Coyote Friendly Communities program is being used nationally to promote safe, effective, and humane methods of protecting pets and livestock. Wildlife Biologist Justin Stevenson will be present for a Q & A session after a short film.

Learn about:

  • Coyote ecology & biology, including the role coyotes play in different ecosystems
  • Common causes of negative human-coyote encounters
  • Strategies for reducing conflicts & promoting coexistence
  • The value of community-based conservation and approaches to living with coyotes

See our film American Coyote ~ Still Wild at Heart, and meet Rowdy, the Sighthound saved from coyote killers. Rowdy was a “decoy” dog left to die after injuries from chasing coyotes through barbed wire fences. Luckily, he was found by a Good Samaritan who took him to the Clovis Animal Shelter who then called Greyhound Companions of New Mexico (www.gcnm.org) for help. He was taken into the foster care program and is now an “ambassador” for all sorts of events!

Judy Paulsen is a native New Mexican who grew up among wildlife in the Gila Wilderness. She has been observing coyote behavior on her own for many years, and has learned coexistence strategies from Project Coyote’s Science Advisory Board. For more information on Project Coyote and their outreach programs, please visit our website at www.projectcoyote.org. Join the “E-Team” here to stay apprised of Project Coyote’s work to protect North America’s carnivores and what you can do to get involved.
