Marin County Parks Chief Park Ranger and Project Coyote Volunteer Educator Rob Ruiz will be giving a presentation at the 2018 California Parks Training and Conference in which he discusses the habits and identifying characteristics of our wild canine neighbor, the coyote. Two hundred years of costly persecution has not eliminated the resilient coyote from our landscape. In fact, coyotes have expanded their range two to threefold since the 1850’s, largely in response to human changes to the environment and the eradication of wolves.
Presenter: Rob Ruiz is a Chief Park Ranger with Marin County Parks. Rob is a graduate of Humboldt State University and has worked for Marin County Parks for over 35 years. He has also worked for the US Forest Service in Oregon, and Eureka Park and Recreation. He volunteers for Marin County-based Project Coyote, a non-profit organization that promotes coexistence between people and wildlife through education, science, and advocacy.
