SHAYLA JACKSON
PROJECT COYOTE INTERN
In her role as a Research Intern, Shayla helps to progress Project Coyote’s goal of prohibiting trapping for recreational and commercial purposes by compiling peer-reviewed literature on trapping practices. Shayla comes from a background in scientific writing as a Vanier Scholar at the University of Guelph, where she studies how canid movement is influenced by environmental factors, including proximity to humans. Previously, Shayla has studied coyote behavior in proximity to cattle, with an interest in promoting coexistence between North America’s native predators and people.
Outside of research, Shayla is an avid dog and outdoors person. She has two dogs, which regularly accompany her on daily jaunts and occasional canoe and camping trips through the forests of Ontario.
