PROJECT COYOTE INTERN

Riley Haythorn is the communications summer intern at Project Coyote. Her graduate studies in the Biodiversity, Wildlife, and Ecosystem Health MSc program at the University of Edinburgh, combined with her background in anthropology and experience volunteering in efforts towards Mexican gray wolf conservation, have led her to focus on issues of human-wildlife conflict, environmental justice, animal welfare, and species translocation. In her role as a communications summer intern, Riley hopes to increase exposure to Project Coyote’s mission of promoting compassionate coexistence with North America’s wild carnivores and further engage the public in wildlife conservation through innovative communications. She hopes to contribute to the important work of destigmatizing carnivores and “pest” species, and ultimately promote a lasting appreciation of all creatures among stakeholders.

Riley grew up moving all around California and has been an avid lover of the natural world since the start. She currently volunteers with a local wildlife rehab and a California based wolf conservation organization, and participates in TNR efforts in her hometown. When she isn’t volunteering, Riley is usually reading, spending time with her family and friends, or planning her next travel adventure.
