Operations & Communications Director

BIO

Sarah Taylor is a strategic and mission-driven nonprofit leader with over 25 years of experience in fundraising, communications, and organizational management. As Project Coyote’s Operations & Communications Director, she oversees operations, development, and communications in support of the organization’s mission to protect wild carnivores and promote coexistence through education, science, and advocacy.

Throughout her career, Sarah has helped transform organizations by building strong donor communities, elevating brand presence, and leading strategic communications efforts. A Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE), she has consistently secured significant funding by developing fundraising programs rooted in authentic relationship-building with individuals, corporations, and foundations driving campaigns that advanced organizational reach and sustainability.

Before joining Project Coyote, Sarah served as Development & Communications Director at Borderlands Restoration Network, working to restore healthy ecosystems in the Sky Islands region of the US and Mexico—one of North America’s most ecologically significant biodiversity hotspots. She also spent nearly a decade as Executive Director of an animal welfare nonprofit in Indiana, advocating for the compassionate treatment of all animals. Earlier in her career, she held roles in development marketing at the Indiana University Foundation and served as Resource Development Director for a regional United Way.

Sarah has a lifelong commitment to animal welfare and environmental stewardship. Originally from suburban Detroit, she now lives in southeastern Arizona where she has transformed her property into a certified wildlife habitat filled with native plants that support birds, butterflies, and other pollinators. She also volunteers at a local horse rescue, caring for a beloved herd of equines on a mountain pasture overlooking Mexico.

When not tending her garden or checking wildlife cams, Sarah enjoys hiking with her dogs Lucy and Conley, traveling with her husband, and quiet time at home with their two cats, Howard and Izzie.
