SARAH KILLINGSWORTH
KEEPING IT WILD YOUTH EDUCATION & OUTREACH PROGRAM COORDINATOR
Sarah is an award-winning wildlife conservation photographer and filmmaker as well as an attorney and mediator. Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, she has lived in the Bay Area for over 25 years. Sarah graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in Anthropology, and received her J.D. from Stanford Law School with distinction.
A life-long volunteer and active community member, she has volunteered in the WildCare (Bay Area) bird room, was a member of the Steering Committee of Mothers of Marin Against the Spray, and served on the board of the Family and Children’s Law Center for over a decade. As an attorney and mediator, she co-chaired a mentoring program for new family law attorneys; for many years she co-taught an annual family law course for mediators at the Northern California Mediation Center.
Currently, Sarah is on the board of both the Environmental Action Committee of West Marin and the Coho Salmon Land Trust. She recently served a four-year term as an elected Trustee of the Kentfield School District. Sarah also leads workshops with Conservation Kids, a nonprofit engaging youth with environmental issues through photography
As a California Naturalist, parent and wildlife educator, Sarah is passionate about sharing the magic of our wilderness areas with children—both by bringing the wild into classrooms, and also by encouraging our youth to explore the outdoors and to learn about their environment. She loves educating students of all ages about local wildlife. Sarah is also a member of the North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA) Ethics Committee, and adheres to and encourages ethical conduct toward and responsible photography of wildlife. NANPA featured Sarah and Project Coyote Ambassador Daniel Dietrich in this blog post about Choosing an Ethical Photography Workshop.
Sarah uses the power of photography and film to raise awareness about environmental issues. View her work at www.sarahkillingsworth.com or on Instagram @skwildlifephotos.
