Nevada: Help ban wildlife killing contests!
This Friday, the Nevada Board of Wildlife Commissioners will hear a petition submitted by the Humane Society of the United States to ban wildlife killing contests statewide. We need your help in urging the Commissioners to finally end these egregious and ecologically destructive contests.
Every year, cruel and ethically indefensible wildlife killing contests ravage Nevada’s ecosystems. These contests violate science-based wildlife management principles, promote the indiscriminate killing of wildlife, and award cash and other prizes to individuals who kill the most, largest or even smallest animals.
If the proposed petition is accepted for rulemaking, the Nevada Department of Wildlife would be directed to prohibit all wildlife killing contests targeting “unprotected” or “fur-bearing” mammals including coyotes, foxes, and bobcats.
Please join us in asking the Nevada Board of Wildlife Commissioners to accept the petition to ban wildlife killing contests at its March 8th meeting!
