File a witness slip to support HB2900
Every year, cruel and ecologically destructive wildlife killing contests are held throughout Illinois targeting coyotes, foxes, raccoons and other species who have no state protections from wanton killing. These contests violate science-based wildlife management principles, promote the indiscriminate killing of wildlife, and award cash and other prizes to the individuals who kill the most, largest or even smallest animals.
This legislative session, we have a real chance to end these practices in Illinois by supporting HB2900 (sponsored by Rep. Anna Moeller) which will prohibit wildlife killing contests in The Prairie State. Ten states have banned wildlife killing contests: Arizona, California, Colorado, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Vermont and Washington. It is time for Illinois to lead as the first Midwest state to do so.
Next Tuesday, March 12, the IL House Agriculture and Conservation Committee will consider whether to advance HB2900 to the House floor. We need your voice to make this happen. Join us in advocating for HB2900 today!
