Join us in Celebrating Wolf Awareness Week!

This week, we’re hosting events and sharing engaging social media posts all week to honor wolves and highlight the intense threats and misunderstandings that this exceptional keystone species faces.

This opportunity to celebrate wolves is more important than ever following the recent announcements that the Biden Administration is seeking to remove federal protections for wolves and that Wyoming is trying to codify running over wolves with snowmobiles into law.

The last time federal protections for wolves were removed, Wisconsin killed over 20% of their wolf population in just a few days. We responded by filing an emergency lawsuit and successfully stopped a second round of unscientific and unethical wolf hunting from proceeding.

Currently, Project Coyote is fighting in both state and federal court in defense of our nation’s wolves. But we need your help to inspire appreciation for wolves across the country, and to ensure we have the resources to defend wolves in our current and future lawsuits.

Here’s how to make a difference during Wolf Awareness Week:

1. Watch our “Act for Wolves” Webinar Recording

  1. On Monday, October 21st, we hosted an “Act for Wolves: Status Updates & Advocacy Actions” webinar to kick off Wolf Awareness Week. Learn about the history of wolf extermination, subsequent recovery, and current persecution, as well as how to take immediate and effective action to protect wolves.

2. Advocate for the SAW Act to prevent wolves and coyotes from being run over by snowmobiles

The SAW act (H.R.9568) aims to ban the cruel practice of using motor vehicles to intentionally harm or kill wolves and coyotes on public lands. In our webinar (above) we provided an overview of the history and current status of wolves in the U.S. and took collective action to advocate for the Snowmobiles Aren’t Weapons Act (H.R.9568).

In case you missed our webinar and haven’t yet contacted your Representative in support of this critical legislation, you can do so here:

3. Donate to Protect America’s Wolves

During Wolf Awareness Week, October 20-26, all donations will go toward our Wild Carnivore Legal Defense Fund so we can quickly and effectively respond to urgent legal needs. We need your partnership in these critical legal advocacy efforts, Christopher. Lawsuits take immense time and resources but are one of the most effective ways to protect wolves from unjust, unscientific, and unethical hunting and trapping.

Thanks to a generous wolf advocate and longtime Project Coyote supporter, all gifts are matched dollar for dollar up to $5,000! Become a partner for wolf protection by making a contribution today to help protect wolves tomorrow!

4. Order limited edition wolf themed apparel

Our annual FLOAT campaign honors Wolf Awareness Week with a beautiful wolf design created by Maeve Rogers, a Voyageurs Wolf Project Research Technician, whose other wildly inspiring designs can be found at TheBrushWolfProject. Each time you wear this unique wolf apparel, you’ll inspire appreciation for wolves among your community and grow the movement to compassionately coexist with wolves.

Order limited edition wolf themed apparel starting tomorrow, Monday the 21st at 8:00am PST / 11:00am EST. One week only!

Each shirt, tanktop, or hoodie purchased sends $8 directly to our Wild Carnivore Legal Defense Fund to support emergency lawsuits for wolves. And thanks to a generous wolf advocate and Project Coyote supporter, every donation this week (including FLOAT proceeds) is matched dollar for dollar up to $5,000. That means every FLOAT purchase adds $16 to this critical fund!
