We need your voice—now. Massachusetts is on the verge of becoming a leader in wildlife protection by implementing restrictions on the use of deadly anticoagulant rodenticides (ARs), but only if residents across the state show strong public support for the passage of H965/S644, an Act Restricting the Use of Rodenticides in the Environment. This critical bill would ban these insidious poisons that are killing wildlife and putting children and pets at risk across the Commonwealth.
The devastating reach of rodenticide poisoning extends far beyond its intended targets. These poisons bioaccumulate in wild carnivores who consume poisoned rodents, including hawks, owls, bobcats, foxes, coyotes, and even endangered species like bald eagles, causing slow, agonizing death.
In California, 88% of raptors (including bald eagles), 100% of barn owls, 92% of gray foxes, and 90% of mountain lions tested had these poisons in their systems. Massachusetts recently confirmed the deaths of multiple bald eagles from rodenticide poisoning, including a beloved mother eagle named MK and her daughter C25, one of the first eagles to hatch in Arlington in 60 years.
Together, we must support Massachusetts legislators in passing the bill to restrict rodenticides and protect wildlife, children, and companion animals.
Every voice counts. Wildlife, children, and companion animals are counting on us.
