Action Alert: Help Stop Wildlife Killing Contests in Illinois

We’re closer than ever to ending cruel wildlife killing contests in Illinois—but we need your help to move this critical bill forward.

Thanks to the dedication of Project Coyote members and partners, the Illinois State Assembly voted in 2024 to ban wildlife killing contests. Now, SB3063 gives us the opportunity to finish what we started and make Illinois the 11th state in the nation to prohibit this senseless practice. Before that can happen, state senators need to know you want them to co-sponsor and move this bill forward so it can become law.

Killing contests promote the indiscriminate slaughter of coyotes, foxes, raccoons, and other wildlife, with participants competing for cash and prizes by killing the most, the largest, or even the smallest animals in a matter of hours or days. Scientists, wildlife professionals, and a growing majority of the public condemn these events as inhumane and ecologically harmful.

Tell your Illinois state senator to co-sponsor and support SB3063 and help end wildlife killing contests once and for all.
